The cabinet of the new government of Haryana has been formed. The big question was whether the Jat community would also get a place in this cabinet? The reason was that Jats had completely rallied behind Congress in the elections. But BJP has not left the support of Jats. Along with other castes including OBC, Dalit, Ahir, Gurjar, BJP has also tried to woo the Jat community. The Jat community, which rallied behind the Congress in this election, also has two ministers in the Saini cabinet. Jats are fourth in terms of numerical strength in the population of Haryana. There are two ministers from the Jat community, Shruti and Panipat Rural MLA Mahipal Dhanda. It is also noteworthy that Dhanda and Ballabhgarh MLA Moolchand Sharma are the only two ministers who were also ministers in the previous Saini government and were successful in winning the elections. In this too, Dhanda is the only name who has been re-inducted into this cabinet.
This time, maximum attention has been given to OBC community leaders in the cabinet. Apart from CM Saini, these include Badshahpur MLA Rao Narbir Singh, Barwala MLA Ranbir Singh Gangwa, Tigaon MLA Rajesh Nagar and Aarti. While Gangwa belongs to the Kumhar community, Aarti and Narbir belong to the Ahir community. Apart from this, Nagar is Gurjar. The inclusion of Aarti and Narbir in the cabinet also has significance. It is believed that by doing this BJP is trying to give more representation to Southern Haryana. This is the same area which has played an important role in the party’s victory since 2014.
This time, considering the resentment of Jats, BJP had focused on Dalit voters. Keeping in mind the Dalit voters, this time the party organized the oath-taking program on Valmiki Jayanti. CM Saini had also reached Valmiki Temple in Panchkula before taking oath. Apart from this, the Punjabi community, which has been a voter of BJP since the time of Manohar Lal Khattar, has also been given representation in the cabinet in the form of Anil Vij. There are also two Brahmins in the cabinet in the form of Gohana MLA Arvind Sharma and Palwal’s Gaurav Gautam. Apart from this, Faridabad MLA Vipul Goyal from Baniya community and Radaur MLA Shyam Singh Rana are from Rajput face.
