A unique case has come to light in Ahmedabad district of Gujarat, where a member of the police dog squad not only helped the police in solving the theft case of Rs 1.07 crore but also got two accused arrested. Giving information about this, an officer said that with the help of Doberman dog ‘Penny’, the district police caught the accused of theft on October 12 and also recovered the entire stolen amount.
Police have arrested Budha Solanki, resident of Sargwala village of Dholka taluka, and his associate Vikram Solanki on charges of theft. Who had information about money kept in the farmer’s house. This farmer had become a millionaire overnight by selling his land and the amount received from the deal was kept at his house.
Giving information about the incident, Sub Inspector PN Gohil of Koth police station said that this incident of theft took place at the house of a 52 year old farmer, who had recently bought land near the Lothal archaeological site near his village for Rs 1.07 crore. Was sold in.
The officer said, ‘The farmer was planning to buy another land with this money, so he had filled the money received from the deal in two plastic bags on October 10 and kept it in his kutcha house. Meanwhile, on October 12, in connection with some work, he locked his house and went to Tarapur in Anand district. During this time his house was stolen. Seeing the house locked, some people entered inside at night by removing the bricks near the window and ran away with bags full of money.
The local police came to know about the theft the next day. After which he started interrogating 30 suspects and 14 history-sheeters, and also called the dog squad to find evidence and trace the escape route of the thieves. The squad visited the spot with ‘Penny’ of Doberman breed.
He told, ‘While searching for suspected thieves on Thursday, Penny stopped at a place before Budha’s house. He was already on our suspects list, as he was known to have cash in the farmer’s house. Then, when he became suspicious, when accused Budha was made to stand with other suspects, Penny once again went near him and stopped for some time, sniffing.’
After this, the police raided Budha’s house and recovered Rs 53.9 lakh kept there. During further interrogation, Budha confessed to the theft and Vikram’s involvement in it. The remaining amount was recovered from the house of Vikram who lives in the village.
Gohil said that Budha was close to the victim farmer and Budha was the last person to whom the victim spoke before leaving his house on October 12. Earlier, when the farmer had bought a car after selling his other land, it was Budha who drove it home because the farmer did not know how to drive. That’s why the farmer trusted him a lot.
Gohil said, ‘Since Budha knew that the farmer would be out of town, he planned with Vikram and stole the money. They divided the loot equally and went home. He said that both of them have been arrested on charges of theft and entering the house without permission.
