Jaipur, October 29 (IANS). Former Deputy Chairman, BJP leader Virendra Bapna has died of dengue in Udaipur. He breathed his last on Monday.

After Bapna’s dengue test report came positive, his health started deteriorating. He was immediately admitted to the hospital for treatment.

Let us tell you that earlier his dengue report had come negative. But on re-examination his report came back positive. Bapna has three daughters.

He has been the Deputy Chairman of Udaipur Municipal Council twice. Later the Municipal Council was transformed into Udaipur Municipal Corporation.

Bapna was the Deputy Chairman of Udaipur Municipal Council from 1999 to 2004 and from 2004 to 2009. He was also the President of Hotel Association Udaipur from 1997 to 1999.

While being associated with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad in 1979, Bapna was also the cultural minister in the student union executive of Sukhadia University. Bapna was also the President of the North Division of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

On his death, BJP city district president Ravindra Shrimali, rural district president Chandragupta Singh Chauhan, former chairman Yudhishthir Kumawat, former mayor Rajni Dangi, Chandra Singh Kothari and other workers paid tribute.

Earlier, Udaipur’s RAS officer Taru Surana (42) had died of dengue on October 5. When his health deteriorated, he was airlifted to Chennai, where he died during treatment.

Chetna Meghwal (40), former head of Badi Sadri Panchayat Samiti of Chittorgarh, also died of dengue. He was referred to Udaipur 10 days ago. He was kept in the ICU ward for two days in a private hospital in Udaipur, but his health did not improve. Due to low platelets, he was put on ventilator and later died.

On September 25, Jyoti Meena, admitted to a private hospital in Jaipur, also died of dengue. She was posted in the government hospital of Dausa.
