Satyajit Ghosh (English: Satyajit Ghosh, died- November 10, 2020) was an Indian football player. He started his career in 1980 playing for Railway Football Club and joined Mohun Bagan the very next season. While playing in Mohun Bagan, Satyajit Ghosh formed a strong partnership with India’s star defender Subrata Bhattacharya, which later became very famous. Satyajit Ghosh played his first match for India in the Nehru Cup in 1985.
Satyajit Ghosh represented India in the Nehru Cup in 1985. Ghosh started his career with Railways FC in 1980 and joined Mohun Bagan the following season. He formed a strong pair with India’s star defender Subrata Bhattacharya. However, due to injuries, Satyajit Ghosh’s career with Mohun Bagan ended in 1986 and he then joined Mohammedan Sporting. Satyajit Ghosh rejoined Bagan in 1989 and remained with the team until his retirement in 1993.
Former Indian footballer Satyajit Ghosh died of a heart attack in Bandel, Hooghly district in the early hours of November 10, 2020, at the age of 62. Family sources said that Satyajit Ghosh suffered a heart attack at his home in Devanandpur, Bandel. He died on the way to Chunchura hospital.
On his death, former Indian defender Subrata Bhattacharya said- ‘I have played with many defenders in my career but Satyajit was one of the best. He was known for his cool tackling and timing. He then wore the jersey of Mohammedan Sporting. Satyajit Ghosh returned to Mohun Bagan in 1989 and played for the club until 1993.[1]
