Wholesale sales of passenger vehicles increased marginally to 3,93,238 units in October on an annual basis. Industry organization SIAM gave this information on Wednesday. Wholesale sales of passenger vehicles in October 2023 were 3,89,714 units. Total two-wheeler sales last month grew 14 percent year-on-year to 21,64,276 units, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) said in a statement. Whereas in October 2023 it was 18,95,799 units. Scooter sales increased by 22 percent in October to 7,21,200 units.
Motorcycle wholesale sales increased by 11%
Motorcycle wholesales grew 11 percent last month to 13,90,696 units. Whereas in October 2023 it was 12,52,835 units. Moped sales declined to 52,380 units in October. Whereas in the same month a year ago it was 53,162 units. Wholesale sales of three-wheelers declined marginally last month to 76,770 units. Whereas in October 2023 it was 77,344 units.
30% growth in vehicle registration
SIAM Director General Rajesh Menon said, “The occurrence of two major festivals Dussehra and Diwali in October 2024 led to increased consumer demand which provided a significant boost to the motor vehicle industry.” Recorded its highest sales of lakh units. Menon said the two-wheeler segment also recorded the highest ever October sales in 2024. “This high growth was also reflected in the vehicle registration figures,” he said. “In October 2024, registrations for both passenger vehicles and two-wheelers witnessed a growth of over 30 per cent year-on-year.”
