By Election 2024: By-elections for 31 assembly seats in 10 states and 60.79 percent voting in Wayanad Lok Sabha seat.

By Election 2024 voting updates: By-elections were held in 31 assembly constituencies of 10 states and Wayanad Lok Sabha seat of Kerala today i.e. on Wednesday. Voting on these seats started at seven in the morning. Since morning, long queues of voters were seen waiting for their turn to cast their votes at many polling stations. Both the candidates of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha have won unopposed on two seats of Sikkim.

Out of 31 assembly seats in 10 states, these seats had become vacant after 28 MLAs became MPs in the Lok Sabha elections. Apart from this, by-elections were held on these seats due to untimely death of two and change of party of one. Of these, 18 seats were with the opposition and 11 seats were with the NDA. Of the 31 assembly seats for which by-elections were held, 21 seats are reserved for general, four for Dalit and six for tribal community.

Voting on six seats of West Bengal

Voting was held for by-elections on six assembly seats in West Bengal. Voting was held here at Sitai, Madarihat, Naihati, Haroa, Taldangra and Medinipur assembly seats. In the 2021 assembly elections, TMC had won five of these seats.

By-elections in Meghalaya also

Voting also took place in Gambegre (West Goro Hills) assembly seat of Meghalaya. Congress MLA Saleng A Sangma was elected MP from Tura Lok Sabha seat. Due to this, Gambegre seat of the state was vacant. The party has given ticket to Jingjang Marak on this seat. He faced BJP’s Bernard Marak.

Voting on Gujarat’s Vav seat

Voting for by-election was also held in Vav assembly seat of Banaskantha district of Gujarat. Vav assembly seat had fallen vacant after the resignation of Congress MLA Geniben Thakur.

By-elections on four assembly seats of Bihar

Voting was held for by-elections on four assembly seats of Bihar. The seats where by-elections were held include Ramgarh, Tarari, Belaganj and Imamganj assembly seats.

Voting taking place on five seats of Assam

Voting was held for five assembly seats in Assam. By-elections were held on Dholai (Reserved), Sidli (Reserved), Bongaigaon, Behali and Samguri assembly seats.

By-elections on Wayanad Lok Sabha and Chilakkara Assembly seats of Kerala

Votes were cast for the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election. Apart from this, voting took place for Chilakkara Assembly by-election.
