Anshul Kamboj: Haryana’s fast bowler Anshul Kamboj has created history. During the Ranji Trophy match against Kerala in Lahli, Kamboj gave a historic performance by taking all 10 wickets in an innings. In this way, Anshul Kamboj has equaled the performance of former Team India player Anil Kumble of taking 10 wickets in an innings. He is the sixth bowler to achieve this feat in first class cricket while he is the third bowler to achieve this big record in a Ranji Trophy match. At the time when Anshul performed this feat, Lahli’s AQI was more than 360.
Big achievement achieved against Kerala
This 23-year-old fast bowler from Haryana displayed brilliant bowling on the third day of the match being played against Kerala in Lahli. He completely destroyed Kerala’s batting lineup. Anshul Kamboj took 10 wickets for 49 runs due to which Kerala’s first innings was reduced to 291 runs. He achieved this feat by dismissing Shaun Roger of Kerala.
Two more bowlers have shown this amazing feat
Before Kamboj, two other bowlers have also shown the feat of taking 10 wickets in an innings in a Ranji Trophy match. Before him, Premangasu Chatterjee (1956-57) of Bengal and Pradeep Sundaram (1985-86) of Rajasthan had taken 10 wickets in an innings. Chatterjee had taken 10 wickets for 20 runs against Assam while Sundaram had shown the feat of taking 10 wickets for 78 runs against Vidarbha.
If we talk about first class cricket, Subhash Gupte (1954-55), Anil Kumble (1998-99) and Debashish Mohanty (2000-01) have also shown the feat of taking 10 wickets in a single innings. Well, if we look at Ranji Trophy after that, after almost 39 years no bowler has been able to perform like this.
Best bowling records in Ranji Trophy history
10/20 – Premanshu Chatterjee – Bengal vs Assam (1956-57)
10/49 – Anshul Kamboj – Haryana vs Kerala (2024-25)
10/78 – Pradeep Sundaram – Rajasthan vs Vidarbha (1985-86)
Amazing bowling amidst poisonous air
Anshul Kamboj has shown the feat of taking 10 wickets in very bad weather. In fact, when the Ranji Trophy match was being played between Haryana and Kerala in Lahli, the AQI of Lahli was more than 360. This is very poisonous air for any human being but despite this Kamboj has achieved this feat.
Seven years ago, the Sri Lankan team played wearing masks during the New Delhi Test. The team had canceled its practice session due to pollution. Anshul Kamboj bowled 30.1 overs in this poisonous air and took all 10 wickets for Kerala.
Anshul can get big money in IPL
Anshul Kamboj is now being considered as an emerging Indian fast bowler because he has amazing swing along with space. He has earned a lot of name in domestic cricket and is also called AK-47. Kamboj has taken 57 first class wickets in just 19 matches. Due to his excellent bowling, Mumbai Indians gave him a chance to debut last year but this year he has been released.
Considering Anshul’s excellent performance in domestic cricket, it is believed that he may get a huge amount during the IPL action. Kamboj has been considering Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath as his idol and has improved his bowling by watching his videos.
