JP Nadda and Mallikarjun Kharge
New Delhi: Taking cognizance of the complaints made by Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress against each other, the Election Commission has sent notices to both the political parties seeking their response. The Election Commission has taken cognizance of the complaints made during the ongoing assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. The Commission has sent separate letters to both Bharatiya Janata Party President JP Nadda and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and asked them to respond on the entire matter. Said.
In the letter written to Mallikarjun Kharge, the Election Commission has mentioned the complaint filed by BJP on November 11. The complaint alleged violation of the election code of conduct by Congress’ star campaigners during the campaign for Jharkhand and Maharashtra assembly elections and by-elections.
Similarly, in the letter written to JP Nadda, the Election Commission has mentioned two complaints filed by the Congress on November 13, alleging violation of the Model Code of Conduct by BJP’s star campaigners during the election campaign. Both the party presidents have been asked to file formal replies by 1 pm on Monday.
BJP’s complaint
BJP had filed a complaint against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the Election Commission. The complaint accuses him of making false statements about the Constitution in election-bound Maharashtra and making lies to “create discord among the states”.
Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal had said on November 11, “A BJP delegation met the Chief Election Commissioner. We told him that on November 6, Rahul Gandhi, leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, once again tried to lie. Maharashtra During the election campaign he tried to pit the states against each other.”
Congress complaint
Congress had also filed two complaints against BJP in the Election Commission. One against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the other against Union Home Minister Amit Shah. In these complaints, he was accused of making “false, divisive” speeches in Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
Attaching copies of the two letters, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh had written on social media We have demanded the Election Commission to investigate the violation of election code of conduct by BJP and its star campaigners.
