Tomatoes become cheap, retail prices fall by 22.4%, know the latest prices - India TV Hindi

The Consumer Affairs Ministry on Sunday said retail prices of tomatoes have declined by 22.4 per cent on a monthly basis due to improvement in supply across the country. According to the official statement, the all India average retail price of tomato stood at Rs 52.35 per kg on November 14, which was Rs 67.50 per kg on October 14. During the same period, Delhi’s Azadpur mandi saw a sharp decline of nearly 50 per cent in model wholesale price from Rs 5,883 per quintal to Rs 2,969 per quintal due to increased arrivals.

Prices reduced due to seasonal supply

Similar price improvement was also reported from major markets like Pimpalgaon (Maharashtra), Madanapalle (Andhra Pradesh) and Kolar (Karnataka), the ministry said. “Although arrivals have reduced at major tomato hubs of Madanapalle and Kolar, prices have eased due to seasonal supplies from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, which have bridged the supply gap across the country,” the ministry said. ” Favorable weather conditions have supported both yields and the smooth operation of the supply chain from farms to consumers, the statement said. The country’s tomato production is estimated to increase by four percent to 213.20 lakh tonnes in the financial year 2023-24.

Vegetable prices will fall this month

According to the report of ICICI Bank, the prices of vegetables may decrease by 4 percent in November. However, onion prices are expected to remain high. Despite the decline in vegetable prices in November, prices still remain high on an annual basis. In October, their prices had increased by 42 percent to their highest in 57 months. Potatoes have become expensive by 65 percent in one year.
