Kailash Gehlot
Kailash Gehlot is one of the old leaders of Aam Aadmi Party. But last Sunday, Kailash Gehlot, who was a minister in the Delhi government, bid goodbye to the Aam Aadmi Party. Kailash Gehlot joined Aam Aadmi Party in the year 2015. In the same year, he contested the elections from Nafazgarh seat of Delhi and won. Repeating the sequence of victory in the year 2020, Kailash Gehlot defeated BJP’s Ajit Singh Kharkhari.
He was among the leaders close to AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal and powerful ministers of Delhi government. Kailash Gehlot took charge of many important departments including Transport Department, Finance. When Manish Sisodia went to jail, Kailash Gehlot had presented the budget of Delhi government for 2023-24.
After the resignation of Arvind Kejriwal from the post of Chief Minister of Delhi, Kailash Gehlot’s name was also in the race for CM. However Atishi was made the Chief Minister. But now Kailash Gehlot has resigned from both the party and the post. After resigning from Aam Aadmi Party, Kailash Gehlot has joined the membership of Bharatiya Janata Party.
Rajendra Pal Gautam
Before Kailash Gehlot, another close aide of Arvind Kejriwal, Rajendra Pal Gautam, left the Aam Aadmi Party a few months ago. Rajendra Pal Gautam has also been a minister in the Delhi government. He had resigned from the primary membership of Aam Aadmi Party in September last. Arvind Kejriwal was dealt a big blow by the resignation of Rajendra Pal Gautam. Because Mr. Gautam was one of the big Dalit faces of the party. He was elected MLA from Seemapuri seat in the 2020 assembly elections. After resigning from Aam Aadmi Party, Rajendra Pal Gautam joined Congress.
Rajkumar Anand
Before the Lok Sabha elections, the Aam Aadmi Party suffered a setback when Rajkumar Anand, who had been a minister in the Delhi government, also left the party. Rajkumar Anand had resigned from the post of minister while the then Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was in jail. After leaving the party and post, Rajkumar Anand joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. Rajkumar Anand was also a big Dalit face of the party. Dalits are considered the core voters of Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi. Due to the resignation of Rajkumar Anand and Rajendra Pal Gautam, the Dalit votes of Aam Aadmi Party have been scattered.
Kartar Singh Tanwar
Kartar Singh Tanwar also resigned from the membership of Aam Aadmi Party a few months ago and joined Bharatiya Janata Party. During the assembly elections in Delhi in the year 2020, Kartar Singh Tanwar won from Chhatarpur seat. Kartar Singh Tanwar was disqualified from membership of the Assembly by the Assembly Speaker under the anti-defection law.
Swati Maliwal showing rebellious attitude
Apart from these big leaders of Aam Aadmi Party, Swati Maliwal, who was the chairperson of Delhi Women Commission, is also showing rebellious attitude against Arvind Kejriwal and the party. After the then Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was released from jail on bail, Rajya Sabha member Swati Maliwal had reached the CM House where the alleged incident of assault took place. Since this incident, Swati has been continuously adopting a rebellious attitude against Kejriwal and the party.
