New Delhi, November 19 (IANS). According to the central government, about 20 lakh new employees have joined ESI. The special thing is that there are about 10 lakh young employees among them. The age of these young employees is up to 25 years. At the same time, the number of women employees joining ESI is also quite significant. Apart from employees, more than 23 thousand establishments providing employment have also been registered in ESI.
Provisional salary payment data from the Central Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) shows that 20.58 lakh new employees have been added in September, 2024. By September, 2024, 23,043 new establishments have been brought under the social security ambit of the ESI scheme.
The Central Government believes that this will ensure social security to more workers. Additionally, year-on-year analysis shows that enrollments have increased by 9 percent in real terms compared to September 2023. If compared year on year, in September 2023 the total number of registered new employees was 18.88 lakh. At the same time, this number has increased to 20.58 lakh in September 2024.
According to these figures, 1.70 lakh more employees were added in September this year compared to last year. The data shows that out of the total 20.58 lakh employees added during the month of September this year, 10.05 lakh employees are in the age group of up to 25 years. This is approximately 48.83 percent of the total registered employees.
According to gender-wise analysis of payroll data, 3.91 lakh women members have also been enrolled in September 2024. Additionally, a total of 64 transgender employees also registered under the ESI scheme in September, 2024, testifying to ESIC’s commitment to benefit every section of the society.
The Center says the salary payment data is provisional as data preparation is an ongoing process.
