Two new MRI machines may come soon in AIIMS, waiting time in radiology department will reduce.

New Delhi, November 25 (IANS). The radiology department of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, is expected to get two new MRI machines soon to provide timely facilities to the patients.

In addition to the seven existing MRI equipment, two new machines and 10 CT scan machines will significantly reduce the waiting time for examining patients. The country’s premier health institute has been providing round the clock MRI, CT USG and laboratory services for the last two years.

The new machines will reportedly be installed in the NMR department and the National Geriatric Centre.

“Continuous efforts are being made by All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi to improve patient services,” AIIMS Delhi said in a post on With the initiatives taken, the hospital has started providing round the clock MRI, CT USG and laboratory services from 2022. This has increased the diagnosis capabilities by 25 to 30 percent. The time has decreased.”

“Two new MRI machines are now being added to provide more efficient and timely advanced radiology services to patients in need,” AIIMS said.

AIIMS offers MRI diagnostic services at cheap and affordable rates, which generally range between Rs 2,000-3,000, whereas a private hospital in Delhi charges Rs 18,000-25,000 for this facility.

According to reports, around 30 patients are examined daily on each MRI machine at AIIMS and the waiting period for radiology procedures can range from six months to three years. Patients are generally classified based on their disease and risk.

With the arrival of the new machine, elderly patients coming to the National Old Age Center will not need to go to any other block of AIIMS for MRI examination.
