Congress

Jagdalpur: After the crushing defeat in Maharashtra elections, the blame is now on EVMs and the demand for voting through ballot paper is gaining momentum. In this context, a senior Congress leader said that if voting is not done through separate ballot papers, Congress will not contest the elections. This statement has been given by senior Congress leader and former minister of Chhattisgarh, Kawasi Lakhma. He said on Wednesday that his party will not contest the upcoming elections if the ballot system for voting is not resumed.

Congress will talk to all alliance partners

Speaking to reporters in Jagdalpur, the headquarters of Bastar district of the state, Lakhma said that his party will protest demanding the use of ballot paper system. Lakhma said, “The Congress party will not contest the upcoming elections unless the elections are conducted through ballot paper.” Congress will talk to all alliance partners (‘India’ block) and protest.

Congress made up its mind to launch a big movement

He said, “All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Mallikarjun Kharge ji had given a statement yesterday. Now there will be meetings (with alliance partners). Presently the Lok Sabha session is going on. Further strategy will be prepared after the meeting with ‘India’ alliance partners. Congress has made up its mind to launch a big movement.

Campaign like ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday criticized the electronic voting system and demanded the return of the ballot paper voting system used earlier for the elections. Kharge said that the votes of the weaker sections are being lost and in such a situation voting should be done through ballot papers and for this demand a campaign like ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ has to be started. He also claimed in the ‘Samvidhan Rakshak Abhiyan’ program organized by various cells of Congress that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is afraid of conducting caste census because he feels that by doing so all classes will start demanding their share.

we need ballot paper

The Congress President had said, “People from SC, ST, OBC and poor sections are voting with all their might, their votes are being wasted. We need votes through ballot paper.” He said sarcastically, ” Let the machine be kept in Modi ji’s house, or Amit Shah’s house, let it be kept in some warehouse in Ahmedabad. But we need ballot papers.” Kharge said, ”A campaign should be started from the party’s side. Will tell all parties. Just as ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ was carried out under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, similarly the campaign of ‘Ballot paper required’ will have to be started. He made this comment after the crushing defeat of Maha Vikas Aghadi in Maharashtra.
