Serial killer Rahul Jat seen in CCTV footage
A ‘serial killer’, arrested for raping and then murdering a 19-year-old girl in Gujarat’s Valsad district, has also confessed to the sixth murder. After the arrest of the accused, some very shocking revelations have come to light. The arrested accused is a serial killer who used to target lonely passengers in handicapped compartments and ladies compartments of trains.
Confesses to sixth murder
Police said that the accused had committed the sixth murder in June this year in Dabhoi, Gujarat. Rahul Jat, a resident of Haryana’s Rohtak district, was arrested after the body of the 19-year-old college student was found on November 14 near Udvada railway station in Valsad district. Rape was confirmed in the forensic examination of the dead body of the deceased girl, immediately after which the police formed several investigation teams and analyzed more than 2000 CCTV camera footage. In the CCTV footage, Rahul was also seen eating something at the railway station after committing the horrific crime.
During interrogation, 30-year-old Rahul had confessed to having committed four more murders before this crime. “He has now confessed to the sixth murder,” Superintendent of Police Karanraj Vaghela said. The accused had murdered a visually impaired youth.
Friend made in train strangled, robbed of mobile phone and money
While traveling from Pratapnagar, Vadodara on June 8, 2024, Rahul befriended Faiyaz Ahmed Sheikh, a resident of Nandurbar, Maharashtra. Vaghela said that both of them got down at Dabhoi in Vadodara district. After which Rahul took her to a deserted area and strangulated her with an iron chain and snatched the mobile phone and money from her. He said, “With this we have solved another case of unidentified murder.”
Criminal history of Rahul Jat-
On October 25, a passenger was murdered in the Bengaluru-Murdeshwar train in Karnataka following a dispute over cigarettes. In October itself, he raped and murdered a woman in a train near Solapur railway station in Maharashtra. In West Bengal, on November 19, he murdered a 63-year-old man with a knife and robbed him in Katihar Express. Just a day before his arrest, Rahul had robbed a woman and murdered her in a train near Secunderabad in Telangana.
