Sunita Rani (English: Sunita Rani, born: December 4, 1979, Sangrur, Punjab) is an Indian female athlete, who made a spectacular comeback in June 2005 and finished first in the 1500 meter race in 4:20:63. Sunita to President K. R. Narayanan has been honored with ‘Arjuna Award’.
Sunita Rani was born on December 4, 1979 in Sangrur, Punjab. His father’s name is Ram Sarup and mother’s name is Santosh Rani. Sunita Rani belongs to a middle class family. His father has retired from the post of village Patwari. Sunita’s sports journey started in 1994 from her school life. Sunita, 15, from Sunam in Punjab’s Sangrur district, used to think that it was an innate talent only then that a person can run and get the prize. Then his senior student Goldie Rani explained to him that he should work hard to win the race. With his inspiration, Sunita Rani participated in the 3000 meter race at the district level in 1994 and got second place after Goldie in the under 18 years age group and first place in the under 16 years age group.
After this, with the inspiration of his father and brothers, he participated in many competitions. She came to the attention of sports officials after winning the 1995 Federation Cup.
