Rahul Gandhi’s statement on farmers’ Delhi march
The farmers’ march to Delhi has been stopped at the Shambhu border of Punjab and Haryana border. A group of 101 farmers started a foot march to Delhi on Friday. However, they were stopped after a few meters. Haryana Police has asked these farmers not to proceed further. Ambala district administration has banned the gathering of 5 or more persons at one place. Meanwhile, a large number of security personnel have also been deployed on the border of Haryana. Politics has now started on this matter and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has given a statement regarding it.
Rahul Gandhi said this on farmers movement
Rahul Gandhi wrote on social media site X, ‘Farmers want to come to Delhi to put forward their demands before the government and express their pain. Firing tear gas shells on them and trying to stop them in various ways is condemnable. The government should listen seriously to their demands and problems. The plight of the food providers can be gauged from the fact that today one farmer is forced to commit suicide every hour in the country. Due to the extreme insensitivity of the Modi government, the country has not forgotten the martyrdom of more than 700 farmers in the first farmers’ movement.
What is the demand of farmers?
He further wrote, ‘We understand the plight of the farmers and support their demands. The government should immediately implement all the demands including legal guarantee of MSP, MSP 1.5 times the comprehensive cost of farming, loan waiver as per the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission. The country will be happy only when the food providers are happy. Let us tell you that farmers have some demands, which include making MSP guarantee a law, fixing the price on the report of Swaminathan Commission, loan waiver of farmers, re-implementation of Land Acquisition Act 2013, repeal of Electricity Amendment Bill 2020, investigation of Lakhimpur Kheri incident. There has been a demand for punishment to the culprits, compensation to the farmer families killed in the movement and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan to speak on this issue in the Rajya Sabha.
