Today i.e. Monday morning, about 40 schools in Delhi received a mail containing a bomb threat, in which a demand of 30,000 US dollars was made.
The threat was sent through a single e-mail to major schools of the city, including DPS RK Puram, GD Goenka, Paschim Vihar, The British School, Chanakyapuri, The Mothers International, Aurobindo Marg, Modern School, Mandi House, DPS Vasant Kunj, Delhi Police Public School, Safdarjung, DPS East of Kailash and Salwan Public School.
Officials said most of the schools that received threats suspended their classes and sent students back home.
A Delhi Fire Service (DFS) official said that they received the first alert about the bomb threat from DPS RK Puram (7.06 am) and GD Goenka Paschim Vihar (6.15 am).
He said that bomb detection team, fire officials, local police and dog squad immediately took action and searched the schools. At around 9.30 in the morning, a police officer said that nothing suspicious has been found yet.
He said that further action is underway. Sources said that the email was sent to the school IDs at 11.38 pm on Sunday night, when the schools were closed – [email protected] From.
The email read, “I have planted several bombs inside the building. The bombs are small and very well hidden. This will not cause much damage to the building, but many people will be injured when the bombs explode.”
It also said, “If I don’t get the $30,000, you all will suffer and lose your limbs. The =E2=80=9CKNR=E2=80=9D group is behind this attack.”
In a message sent to parents, Mother Mary School, Mayur Vihar said, “An email was received this morning regarding a bomb threat in the school. Therefore, as a precautionary measure, students are being dispersed immediately. You are requested to please collect your children from your respective bus stops.”
“I got a message from the school about emergency. It is a failure of the government as schools are receiving such threats regularly,” Harish, one of the parents, told PTI Videos while taking his daughter back from school.
In May, more than 200 schools, hospitals and other important government establishments in the city had received similar bomb threats, but the case is yet to be resolved as the mail was sent through virtual networks.
