New Delhi. The Supreme Court has raised questions on the free schemes given by the governments. During the hearing of a petition related to free ration to migrant laborers, the bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice Manmohan of the Supreme Court raised the question that for how long will the free ration be given? The Supreme Court bench asked the Central Government to create employment opportunities for migrant labourers. During this time in the Supreme Court, the Central Government told that 81 crore people across the country are being given free or subsidized ration. On this, the Supreme Court bench said that this means that only the tax payers are left.
On the discussion of passing an order regarding giving ration to migrant laborers by the states, the Supreme Court said that as soon as such an order is given, no one will be seen here. Migrant laborers will flee to the states. The court said that why not work on employment opportunities, employment and capacity building for migrant labourers. Let us tell you that an NGO had filed a petition in the Supreme Court for free ration to migrant laborers in the states. Advocate Prashant Bhushan advocated for this NGO in the Supreme Court. The special thing is that PM Narendra Modi has said many times that the free schemes started by the state governments can worsen their economic condition. He also gave the example of Congress governments of Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh. Whereas, Ladli Behan scheme is also running in BJP ruled Madhya Pradesh. At the same time, the BJP led Mahayuti government of Maharashtra is also giving Rs 1500 every month to women under the Ladki Bahin Yojana.
The first free scheme in the country was started by Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi. Free electricity and water scheme was launched in Delhi. Then from the Corona period, the Modi government at the Center started giving free ration to 80 crore people. After this, Congress came to power in Karnataka, Telangana and Himachal Pradesh by announcing free schemes. Seeing this, BJP has also announced free schemes and gained power by winning elections in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana and Maharashtra.
