Siva, born on 10 December 1982, is an Indian Tamil actor, comedian, radio jockey and dialogue writer. He has acted in several Tamil language films and is known as Agila Ulaga Superstar (trans. Superstar of the whole world) among his fans. Before his acting career, Shiva worked as a radio jockey with Radio Mirchi. Acting primarily in comedy films, he rose to fame after his performances in Venkat Prabhu’s Chennai 600028 and Saroja, before Thamizh he also starred in Padma. His stint with Radio Mirchi earned him the nickname “Mirchi Shiva”. Siva has made a name for himself in the Tamil film industry. He is known for his unique style of comedy and has a huge fan following in Tamil Nadu.
Shiva made his acting debut in 2007 with the film “Chennai 600028” directed by Venkat Prabhu. He played the role of “Venkat Prabhu” in the film, which was a huge success at the box office. Siva then starred in Thamizha Padam (2010), a full-length parody of contemporary Tamil cinema and his performance received critical acclaim. During this period, he also completed another comedy film, Siva Pujayil Karadi, written by Rama Narayanan, but this film was never released.
In 2012, she starred opposite Vimal in Sundar C’s comedy film Kalakalappu, which received positive reviews and performed well commercially. Playing the role of small-time crook Raghu, critics said that Siva was a “scene-stealer” of the film and “carries the first half with his quips”. The success of the film led to the actor getting more scripts and Shiva acted in four comedy films in 2013. His first release was Thillu Mullu, a remake of the 1981 Rajinikanth starrer alongside Isha Talwar and Prakash Raj and it performed well commercially. The actor also played a positive role of a thug, with a critic noting that “Shiva has taken the entire film on his shoulders and given his best. His comic timing is perfect and the one-liners are hilarious.” Her second release of the year, Sona Puriyathu, in which she played the role of a dubbing artist, also received good reviews. Sudheesh Kamath of The Hindu praised the actor’s performance, saying that “nobody does silly jokes with a straight face like Shiva”, adding that he is “a funny guy pretending to be important”. The next release Ya Ya featured her in the lead role opposite Santhanam. Siva was next seen in Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi’s Vanakkam Chennai, a romantic musical opposite Priya Anand. The film received positive to mixed reviews, but was a commercial success.
In 2015, he starred in two films, Masala Padam and 144. In 2016, his films were Aadra Machan Visilu and Chennai 600028 II, a sports comedy sequel to Chennai 600028. In 2018 she was released in Kalakalappu 2, a sequel to the same film Kalakalappu, directed by Sundar C. It has received good reviews from the audience. Although the story of the film is predictable, the comedy part has touched the hearts of the audience. His voiceover has also appeared in films such as Vandi (2018) and Charlie Chaplin 2 (2019).
Shiva married his long-time girlfriend and former national level badminton player Priya on 15 November 2012. Their son Agastya was born on 25 June 2019 [29] He was born in a Tamil Agamudayar caste family.
