New Delhi, December 10 (IANS). Congress and its allies in Rajya Sabha have decided to bring a no-confidence motion against Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar. For this, MPs belonging to the parties of the India Alliance have submitted a proposal to the Secretary General of Rajya Sabha. Regarding the no-confidence motion, Congress says that the proceedings of the Upper House are being conducted in an extremely partisan manner by the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. Opposition MPs have expressed their displeasure towards this.
Congress MPs say that due to such partisan proceedings in the Rajya Sabha, the opposition parties associated with the India Alliance had no option but to formally move a no-confidence motion against the Chairman. The Rajya Sabha MPs who signed the no-confidence motion say that this has been a very painful decision for all the parties, but this unprecedented step has to be taken in the interest of parliamentary democracy. This proposal has now been submitted to the Secretary General of Rajya Sabha.
According to the information, about 60 MPs have signed this proposal. This proposal has been given under Article 67-B. Regarding the repeated disruption of Parliament proceedings, Congress Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala says that it is the misfortune of the country that the ruling party or government is not allowing Parliament to function. Why is Parliament called, so that the ruling party and the opposition can discuss corruption, inflation, unemployment and government policies? This is happening for the first time in the 75 year history of India, when the ruling government is not allowing the Parliament to function by wasting its time. As soon as the words inflation and unemployment are mentioned in Parliament, the BJP runs away. This is a dark chapter for parliamentary decorum, which will be written in the history of Parliament.
Many opposition parties including Congress say that they are not being given full opportunity to present their views in the Rajya Sabha. Whereas, the ruling party is given opportunities to present its views even amidst the uproar. The opposition has called it a partisan proceeding. On this entire situation, Congress Rajya Sabha MP Pramod Tiwari said that the opposition parties want to run the House. We had not given any such notice which would cause disruption in the House. The House was again adjourned for not raising the issue of Sambhal in the Rajya Sabha and for not discussing unemployment. BJP is deliberately not allowing the House to function.
