New Delhi. BJP and Congress have issued whips for their Lok Sabha MPs. The Constitution is to be discussed in the Lok Sabha on 13 and 14 December. BJP and Congress have issued a three-line whip to all their MPs to compulsorily attend this discussion. A few days ago, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had called an all-party meeting. In this meeting it was decided that the Constitution would be discussed in the Lok Sabha on 13 and 14 December and in the Rajya Sabha on 16 and 15 December.

BJP Whip The 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India will be celebrated in the Lok Sabha on Friday 13 December and Saturday 14 December 2024. Therefore, it is mandatory for all the MPs to be positively present in the House on both the days in the Lok Sabha. During this time, BJP has also urged its MPs to support the government’s stand.

At the same time, in the three-line whip issued by the Congress, its MPs have been asked to compulsorily remain present in the Lower House for two days on 13 and 14 December.
What is a whip?
Whip is issued by a political party to its MPs and MLAs. This is a kind of written order in which MPs or MLAs are compulsorily asked to be present in the House. The party can also take action against its MP or MLA for violating the whip.
Who can issue whip and when?
Any political party can issue a whip for its members. To issue the whip, the party appoints one of its senior members as the chief whip and it is only through him that the whip is issued to other members. When there is any kind of voting or discussion on a particular topic in the House, then the parties issue whips to their members.
