New Delhi. India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri conveyed India’s concerns during his meeting with Mohammad Yunus, Chief Advisor to the Interim Government in Bangladesh, and Mohammad Tauheed Hussain, Advisor on Foreign Affairs. Especially referring to the recent attacks on Hindus and minorities, he asked the Bangladesh government to ensure their safety. The Foreign Secretary stressed India’s support for a democratic, stable, peaceful, progressive and inclusive Bangladesh. This information was given by the Ministry of External Affairs of India.

Giving detailed information regarding Vikram Misri’s visit to Bangladesh on December 9, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that he spoke to the media there, in which he said how we want to take forward our relations with Bangladesh. He also reiterated India’s desire to build positive and constructive relations with Bangladesh based on mutual trust, respect and sensitivity to each other’s concerns and interests. Let us tell you that after meeting India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, the key advisor to the Bangladesh government had directed to take action against attacks on minorities.
Just a day after this meeting, 70 people were arrested in 88 cases registered for attacks on Hindus. Mohammad Yunus’s press secretary Shafiqul Alam said that information regarding the cases of violence that have come to light after October 22 will be given soon. Alam said that those who commit such violence and heinous crimes in Bangladesh will be given strict punishment. No one will be spared. Earlier, Mohammad Yunus had described the news of attacks on minorities as an exaggeration sponsored by the Indian media. He had alleged that the Indian media was exaggerating such news.
