Suresh Oberoi, one of the powerful villains of Bollywood films, was born on 17 December 1946 in a Punjabi family in Quetta, present-day Balochistan. The country was partitioned in 1947, after which his family came to India. After coming to India, he and his family initially lived in Punjab. Then he shifted to Hyderabad. Due to his interest in acting, Suresh came to Mayanagari Mumbai. When he came to Mumbai he had only Rs 400 in his pocket. Today, on the basis of his acting, he is the owner of property worth crores.
Suresh Oberoi started his career in 1977 with the film ‘Jeevan Mukta’. After this he worked as a supporting actor in films like ‘Kala Patthar’, Suraksha, Dutta. In 1980, he got a chance to work in the lead role in ‘Ek Baar Phir’. His work in this film was appreciated, but his film could not do wonders. Suresh Oberoi received the National Film Award for Best Supporting Role for the film ‘Mirch Masala’ in 1987. He has also received the Filmfare Award for the film ‘Ghar Ek Mandir’.

He married Yashodhara on 1 August 1974 in Madras. His wife belongs to a Punjabi family. The couple has a son named Vivek Oberoi who is an actor and a daughter named Meghna Oberoi.
