Guwahati. Assam Police, in a joint operation with West Bengal and Kerala Police, has arrested 8 radicals who were planning terrorist activities. According to Special DGP Harmeet Singh of Assam Police, this operation was conducted on 17 and 18 December 2024. The radicals arrested in the operation conducted across the country were planning to target RSS leaders and religious leaders. Their intention was to create an atmosphere of violence by committing such murders. STF of Assam Police had deployed several teams to arrest all the radicals. Apart from Assam, simultaneous raids were conducted in West Bengal and Kerala. Assam Police claims that objectionable documents have also been recovered from the arrested radicals.

According to Assam Police, Noor Islam Mandal and its fundamentalist associates held several meetings in Murshidabad and Falakata in West Bengal. In the meeting, a conspiracy was hatched to prepare an attack on RSS, leaders of Hindu organizations and religious leaders. Assam Police got information about this meeting. After which it was decided to start an operation to arrest the radicals. According to the police, Farhan, Mohammad Saad alias Mohammad Shab Shaikh are also among those arrested. Mohammad Saad is from Bangladesh and came to India in November. At the same time, Farhan is related to Ansarullah Bangla team chief Jasimuddin Rahmani. Ansarullah Bangla Team has links with the international terrorist organization Al-Qaeda.

According to Assam Police, Mohammad Saad was given the responsibility of spreading fundamentalist ideology in India and preparing a sleeper cell. He visited many areas of Assam and West Bengal and also met sleeper cell people. Bangladeshi citizen Mohammad Saad had also visited Kerala. After the arrest of all the radicals, now Assam Police is gathering information about their close ones. It is believed that many more accused may be arrested in the coming days.
