New Delhi, . Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya has announced the launch of ‘Fit India Sunday on Cycle’ program. CRPF and ITBP personnel will join Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya in the first ‘Fit India Sunday on Cycle’ event in the national capital. The event will be held on December 22 (Sunday).
The campaign aims to promote cycling for fitness, eco-friendly transportation and community building. In the first program of ‘Fit India Sunday on Cycle’, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel will join the campaign with Dr. Mandaviya on 22 December in Delhi. After the green flag on Sunday, this yatra will start from Major Dhyanchand National Stadium at 8 am and will proceed on the duty path.
Apart from the general public, the event will also be attended by athletes, fitness influencers, members of cycling clubs of Delhi-NCR, volunteers of My Bharat (earlier NYKS), Sports Authority of India said in a release on Friday. The initiative is expected to encourage people across the country to take up cycling as a mode of transport and exercise. This program will be organized at more than 500 locations across India.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is organizing the event in collaboration with Cycling Federation of India (CFI) and My Bharat (MY Bharat) as well as SAI Regional Centres, National Centers of Excellence (NCOE), Khelo India Centers and district administrations.
The ‘Fit India Movement’, launched in 2019 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is a grassroots program that encourages Indians to adopt a healthy lifestyle. This movement overall focuses on health aspect, sports aspect and promotion of indigenous sports of the country.
