RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has extended his support to the Bihar Public Service Commission’s demand for cancellation of competitive examinations recently conducted under controversial circumstances.
The former deputy chief minister, who was visiting the remote Seemanchal region of the state to energize the party for the assembly elections due in less than a year, reached the capital late on Saturday night.
The opposition leader went to Gardani Bagh area of the city, where many candidates were protesting round the clock despite the cold, demanding the cancellation of the 70th Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) held on December 13.
The former Deputy Chief Minister, along with his close aide and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Yadav, spoke to the protesters for a while and then said, “We are completely with the students on this issue. The Nitish Kumar government will have to order the cancellation of the exams.”
“Whatever step you take, Tejashwi is ready to take four steps forward,” he told the protesters.
His visit comes a day after Yadav held a video chat with the protesters, in which many of them urged the young leader to spare time to support their movement.
It is noteworthy that at an examination center in the city, hundreds of candidates had boycotted the examination alleging that the question paper was leaked.
The allegation has been strongly denied by the BPSC and claimed that the disruption in the examination was caused by “anti-social elements” who had come as part of a “conspiracy” to get the examination cancelled.
However, the Commission has ordered re-examination for around 5,000 candidates who were included in the “Bapu Examination Complex” that was at the center of the controversy.
However, it has been demanded that since the fairness of the examination is in doubt due to allegations of paper leak, the examinations of all 912 centres, where around five lakh candidates had appeared, should be canceled and conducted afresh.
