Lucknow, Amrit Vichar: The clock struck 12 at night and the Christmas celebrations started in the churches. The prayers had already begun in the brightly lit churches. The churches were packed with followers of Christianity. The largest event was held in the capital’s cathedral church. People reached the church and lit candles and remembered Jesus Christ.
A grand Christmas table was decorated in the Cathedral Church. Mohammed Ali, who placed the star on the top of the church, was also present there. Following his family’s tradition, Muhammad Ali places a star on the top of the church every year. Before him, his father used to do the same work. Climbing to the top of the church is a dangerous task. This is the reason why his family fasts on the day he climbs the church to install the star. Before climbing to plant the star, he talks to his family on the phone and prayers continue in his house until he lands safely and calls home again.
In the tableaux put up in the church, scenes related to the birth of Jesus Christ are enacted. The atmosphere of the place where Jesus Christ was born is depicted in the tableau. The kind of house he had, the mountain on which he was born, the statue of his mother Mary was also decorated in that tableau.
A beautiful cutout of Santa Claus was also installed in the tableau which was moving his hands and head with the help of electricity, it became the center of attraction for the children. In view of the Christmas celebrations, a large crowd had gathered in Hazratganj. The police had made special arrangements for traffic management.
In the main hall of the church, scholars expressed their views regarding Jesus Christ and songs related to him were sung. With the announcement of the birth of Jesus Christ, a series of congratulations started which continued till late night.
