Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday fiercely targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of misgovernance in the upcoming Prayagraj Mahakumbh Mela 2025.
Taking to social media, Yadav said that only nine out of 22 pontoon bridges in Prayagraj are fit for traffic and the rest are in poor condition and also pointed out that the BJP has done only 40 per cent of the work.
In the post he wrote, “Prayagraj Mahakumbh 2025: Special news bulletin on BJP’s misgovernance mode, Date: December 26, 2024: Correspondent: PDA Journalist. News: Only 9 out of 22 pontoon bridges are fit for traffic, remaining nine in poor condition This means that after a year’s exercise, only 9 out of 22 pontoon bridges have been made trafficable, i.e. about 40% of the work. has been completed.”
Furthermore, the SP chief questioned how the remaining bridges would be built and how control and movement of crows would be possible with only 20 days left for the Maha Kumbh.
He questioned, “Now that only 20 days are left for this big event, how will the remaining bridges be built and how will the crowd be controlled and how will movement be possible? The BJP government should take this very seriously.”
Earlier, the UP government had announced over 5,000 special buses, including 550 electric vehicles, which are ready to assist the huge rush of devotees during the peak days of the religious event.
Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is ensuring world-class facilities for lakhs of devotees coming to Mahakumbh. According to the official release, this includes arranging shelter for more than 1 lakh passengers and operating around 3,000 special fair trains. Additionally, IRCTC, the tourism and hospitality arm of Indian Railways, has completed the construction of a luxurious tent city, Mahakumbh Gram, near Triveni Sangam.
