Hundreds of vehicles were stuck due to snowfall in Himachal Pradesh.
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Police has proved to be an angel for many tourists. According to reports, several teams of Himachal Pradesh Police together on Saturday rescued more than 1800 vehicles and passengers who were stuck on the way from Solang Valley to Atal Tunnel due to heavy snowfall. Giving information about this, Manali DSP KD Sharma said that after the warning of bad weather on Friday, more than 2000 vehicles were stuck between Solang Valley and Atal Tunnel.
‘200 vehicles are still stuck’
Sharma said that after getting information about the vehicles being stuck, the police immediately started the rescue operation. Sharma confirmed that around 1,800 vehicles had been pulled out safely, while around 200 vehicles were still stuck. He said, ‘Yesterday, based on the weather forecast, vehicular movement from Solang Valley to Atal Tunnel was stopped. More than 2000 vehicles were stuck, after which we started the rescue operation, which continued till this morning.
Temperature reached 0 degrees in Dharamshala
Authorities successfully rescued the stranded passengers and concluded the rescue operation this morning. Meanwhile, the cold has increased in North India’s popular hill station Dharamshala. It is raining intermittently here and there is dense fog in the Dhauladhar mountains. On Saturday, minimum temperatures in Naddi, Dharamkot, Bhagsu Nag, McLeodganj and other upper areas of Dharamshala were recorded between 0 to 1 degree Celsius, while the day temperature remained in the range of 4 to 5 degrees Celsius.

Let us tell you that there has been fresh snowfall in the mountains of Dhauldhar and tourists are waiting for more snow to fall here. Shimla and upper reaches of Himachal Pradesh have been receiving continuous heavy rain and snowfall for the last 24 hours, causing landslides and disrupting daily life. Due to continuous rains, snow has melted in Shimla and surrounding areas, due to which the temperature has dropped further and the cold has increased.
