Tata Group and ISKCON took the responsibility of making the water of 15 ancient ponds of Braj potable.

Industrial house Tata Group and religious organization ‘ISKCON’ have taken the responsibility of making the water of the ancient ponds of Braj potable. For this, both have identified a total of 15 ponds. Mathura-Vrindavan Development Authority (MVDA) will itself work to save the remaining ponds.

Chief Executive Officer of Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad and Vice Chairman of Mathura-Vrindavan Development Authority, Shyam Bahadur Singh said that there are many such ancient ponds in Braj, which are of religious and historical importance. Along with beautification, work is being done by the council to improve the quality of water.

Of these, Tata Group has taken responsibility for eight kunds and ISKCON has taken responsibility for seven kunds. MVDA itself has taken the responsibility of water purification of five ponds.

Singh said that a total of 2052 water units are present in Mathura district. Of these, 288 units are counted as ponds. He told that two dozen of these ancient ponds have been renovated by Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad. This process continues continuously. Along with this, Teerth Vikas Parishad has now started taking the help of private institutions to beautify these ancient ponds of Braj and improve the quality of their water.

Singh said that the help of ISKCON along with Tata Group is being taken in this process. Tata Group has adopted Govardhan’s Mansi Ganga, Radhakund, Krishna Kund, Ashtasakhi Kudh, Shantanu Kund, Garuda Govind Kund and Nari Semri Kund.
