Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, known as the father of economic reforms in India, died on Thursday. He was 92 years old. Singh also served as the Finance Minister of the country. India’s relations with several major countries, including Mauritius, improved significantly during Singh’s tenure as Prime Minister.

Manmohan Singh was cremated on Saturday at Nigam Bodh Ghat in Delhi. Many senior Congress leaders attended the funeral of former PM Manmohan Singh. Many leaders including President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rajnath reached Nigam Bodh Ghat and paid tribute to the mortal remains of the former PM. Former PM Manmohan Singh’s elder daughter lit the last rites of her father. With this, former PM Manmohan Singh merged into Panchatattva forever.

Congress Parliamentary Party leader Sonia Gandhi termed the demise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as a big personal loss for her. He said he was a ‘friend, philosopher and guide’ to him. Sonia Gandhi also said that the people of the Congress Party and the people of India will always be proud and grateful that Manmohan Singh was a leader whose contribution to India’s progress and development is incomparable.
