Police team investigating after firing in Montenegro
Podgorica (Montenegro): The gunman who shot dead at least 12 people, including two children, in a shooting in the city of Cetinje in the south-eastern European country of Montenegro, shot himself dead after being surrounded by policemen. Information regarding this has been given by the officials. At least four people were also injured in a shooting that followed a dispute at a bar in the western city of Cetinje on Wednesday, officials said.

Interior Minister Danilo Saranovic said the attacker, Ako Martinovic, 45, also killed the bar’s owner, his children and members of his own family. The whereabouts of the attacker who fled after committing the crime was traced and the police surrounded him. Saranovic said that after being surrounded by policemen, he committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. Police had sent a special team to search for the attacker in the town of Cetinje, about 30 kilometers from the capital Podgorica.

Police Commissioner Lazar Skapanovic said that the attacker Martinovic had been in the bar all day with other guests. He said that after the dispute, Martinovic went home, brought a weapon and started shooting at around 5:30 pm. Skapanovic said, “He killed four people in the ‘bar'” and then continued shooting at three more locations before passing out.

President Jakov Miletovic said he was shocked by the incident. “Instead of celebrating the holiday, we are saddened by the loss of innocent lives,” he wrote in a post on X. Prime Minister Miloško Spajić visited the hospital to check on the injured and announced three days of mourning. “This is a horrific incident that has affected all of us,” he said (AP).
