Snowfall in Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Pahalgam, Gurez, Shopian and cold wave in other districts. There was dense fog in Delhi-NCR for a day and visibility was zero. After 2 days the cold wave increased with light fog.

According to the Meteorological Department, a Western Disturbance has been observed as a trough in the lower to upper tropospheric levels over South-West Rajasthan and adjoining South-East Rajasthan. A cyclonic circulation is also active. Due to this, moist winds are rising from the Arabian Sea. Due to these winds, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh today between January 6 and 8. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain at many places in the eight states of the North East.
A fresh Western Disturbance may become active between January 10-12 and affect Northwest India. Due to its effect, there is a possibility of moderate rain and snowfall in the western Himalayan region and light rain in the plains of the northwest. There will be snowfall in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh. Rain is expected in Tamil Nadu-Puducherry. Timings of more than 10 trains had to be changed. 160 flights landed late in the morning and evening due to zero visibility. 7 flights had to be cancelled.
