Congress on Monday announced ‘Pyari Didi Yojana’ in Delhi, promising to provide monthly financial assistance of Rs 2,500 to women if voted to power.
The scheme will be launched on the lines of the model adopted by the Congress-led government in Karnataka.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Announcing the scheme, Shivakumar said that its aim is to empower women economically. He promised that it would be implemented in the first cabinet meeting of the new government if Congress comes to power in Delhi.
Shivkumar said, “Today I have come here to launch the ‘Pyari Didi Yojana’. We are confident that the Congress government will be formed in Delhi and on the first day of the new cabinet, we will implement the scheme of giving Rs 2,500 to every woman in the capital.
Shivakumar said the guarantee would be implemented in Delhi also as per the “Karnataka model”.
Elections for the 70-member assembly in Delhi are scheduled to be held in February.
Congress’ Delhi unit chief Devendra Yadav, party’s Delhi in-charge Qazi Nizamuddin and other senior leaders were present during this announcement.
