Delhi Election 2025: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has made a big announcement of supporting Aam Aadmi Party in the Delhi Assembly elections. The SP chief said that apart from supporting AAP, we will also share the stage with it. He said that only AAP is capable of defeating BJP in Delhi Assembly elections and hence we have decided to support AAP. After this announcement made by the SP chief, former Chief Minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal has expressed gratitude on behalf of the party.
This step of the SP chief is being considered very important from the political point of view because Congress is also in the election fray in Delhi but he has announced his support to AAP, keeping Congress aside. This announcement of Akhilesh Yadav is being considered as a big blow for Congress. Congress leader Sandeep Dixit has reacted sharply to this announcement of Akhilesh Yadav. He said that Akhilesh Yadav will go only where Congress is weakening.
SP chief calls Congress weak in Delhi
Along with announcing support to Aam Aadmi Party, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has also targeted Congress. He said that Congress seems to be in a weak position in Delhi. Congress is in no position to defeat BJP. SP’s support will be only to the party which is capable of defeating BJP. Aam Aadmi Party seems to be giving a strong challenge to BJP in the Delhi Assembly elections and hence we have decided to support AAP.
Even before this, Akhilesh Yadav was seen supporting Aam Aadmi Party. Last December, she participated in the Mahila Adalat program organized by AAP at Tyagaraja Stadium in Delhi. During this, he had said that Aam Aadmi Party should get one more chance in Delhi. He said that SP stands with AAP with full responsibility. Whenever Aam Aadmi Party needs support and help, we will be seen standing with it.
Big blow to Congress with Akhilesh’s support
The Election Commission has announced the date of Delhi Assembly elections today itself. According to the schedule announced by the Election Commission, votes will be cast in Delhi on 5th February while the results will be announced after the counting of votes on 8th February. Nominations will be filed from January 10 to January 17.
With the start of election battle in Delhi, the announcement of support of SP chief is being considered very important for AAP. In Delhi, AAP and Congress are challenging each other, but Akhilesh Yadav has given a big blow to Congress with his support to AAP.

Congress leader Sandeep Dixit has reacted sharply to the announcement of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav. He said that Akhilesh Yadav will basically go where Congress is weakening. It was natural for him to join the Aam Aadmi Party. He said that SP should remember that Mulayam Singh Yadav was one of the leaders whom Arvind Kejriwal had abused the most.
This time Congress has made Sandeep Dixit its candidate from New Delhi Assembly seat against Arvind Kejriwal.
