Deepfake Detector: In the present era of AI, deepfake has emerged as a big challenge because through deepfake, exact fake audio, video and photo of anyone can be created. It is very difficult to identify it. Videos or deepfakes created by AI are spreading like a flood on the internet and are becoming viral on social media. We now live in a world where seeing and hearing have become difficult to believe.
In such a situation, now tools to detect deepfakes have also come in the market. In this sequence, America-based cyber security company McAfee has launched its AI-powered McAfee Deepfake Detector Service in India for the first time in the world. This will help identify potential deepfake content and alert users. The company has said that it has worked for deepfake detection according to India.
McAfee Deepfake Detector is priced at Rs 499 as a standalone product, while McAfee Plus suite of security features with Deepfake Detector is available for Rs 2,398. After this software is installed in the computer, it will continue to work in the background.
McAfee Deepfake Detector automatically alerts users when it detects AI-altered audio in a video. This feature works on the Neural Processing Unit (NPU) of the device. McAfee has said that the company does not record user audio and offers the option to disable audio detection completely. Users can also upload suspicious videos for analysis by McAfee’s deepfake detector.
Deepfake scam
McAfee’s research shows that the average Indian watches 4.7 deepfake videos online every day. The shocking thing is that last year, 66 percent of Indians have either been a victim of a deepfake video scam or know someone who has been a victim of it. These scams have become so complex and difficult to detect that 44 percent of Indians who fell victim to one online scam faced another scam within 12 months.
