Jaipur, January 8 (IANS). Regarding the Yamuna Water Agreement, Haryana has once again made it clear that only the additional water coming during the rainy season will be provided to Rajasthan. On January 7, a meeting was held between Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini in the presence of Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil in Delhi. On this, former Rajasthan Chief Minister and Congress leader Ashok Gehlot said that Jhunjhunu and Sikar should get water. There is a lot of trouble in these areas due to lack of water.
Speaking to IANS, he said, “The Chief Minister has said many times before that he will bring Haryana’s water, although there is nothing to be happy about, but in 2002, when Chautala Saheb was the Chief Minister of Haryana, we had also held a meeting. At that time Chautala Saheb had said that Rajasthan has the first right on water. We became happy because Chautala Saheb himself said at that time. They have the right to be given water. Whatever is left will be useful to them. We were very happy that the Chief Minister of Haryana is saying that water is the right of Rajasthan.”
He said, “What better thing can anyone do than this? At that time we made the MoU, sent it and it was not signed. From that day till today, whether there is a dispute with Punjab or a dispute with Haryana, the matter has moved forward. Haryana CM Saini has said that we will provide water or not. We will be happy only when we get water there. Shortage Because of which there is great suffering.”
On Delhi Assembly elections, he said, “The election date has been announced in Delhi on Tuesday and we are all ready. The State Congress Committee has started work on the elections. The mood of the public is changing. Where earlier we felt something different. Now the change is clearly visible. The Prime Minister talks about schemes worth Rs 4000 and sometimes Rs 10-12,000.
