Havildar (retd) Baldev Singh passed away.
Havildar (retired) Baldev Singh, a veteran army soldier who fought four wars against Pakistan, has passed away. Baldev Singh died at the age of 93 due to natural causes at his residence in Nowshera. His last rites were performed with full military honors in his village on Tuesday. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also expressed grief over the demise of retired Baldev Singh. PM Modi has said that Baldev Singh’s monumental service towards India will be remembered in times to come.

Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi has expressed condolences on the demise of Havildar Baldev Singh (Retd). PM Modi wrote – “Saddened by the demise of Havildar Baldev Singh (Retd). His great service towards India will be remembered in times to come. A true symbol of courage and patience, his unwavering dedication towards the nation should inspire future generations. Will do. I remember my meeting with him a few years ago. My condolences to his family and fans.”
Know about Baldev Singh
The then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru honored the child soldiers by giving them gramophones, watches and a chance to join the army. After this, Baldev Singh joined the army on 14 November 1950. After this he remained associated with the army for 3 decades and served the country with bravery. He participated in the India-Pakistan wars of 1961, 1962 and 1965. Baldev Singh retired from the army in October 1969. However, he was recalled in 1971 during the India-Pakistan war. He then served an additional eight months in 11 Jat Battalion (25 Infantry Division).
Baldev Singh was given many honors for his service to the country. These include honors given by the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, current Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former Vice President Hamid Ansari and many other eminent leaders. (input language)
