Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said there is no time limit for the India alliance. He expressed disappointment over the lack of clarity about the leadership and agenda of the alliance and said that if the alliance was only for parliamentary elections then it should be ended.
Abdullah said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Congress and other political parties will decide how to effectively counter the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
“After the assembly elections in Delhi, they should call all the members of the alliance for a meeting. If this alliance is only for parliamentary elections then it should be ended and we will work separately,” Abdullah told reporters in Jammu. But if it is also for the assembly elections then we will have to sit together and work collectively.”
The National Conference leader was replying to a question about the RJD leader’s statement in which he had said that the India alliance is only for the Lok Sabha elections. “As far as I remember, no time limit was set for this. The issue is that no alliance meeting is being called,” he said.
He claimed that there is no clarity about the agenda of the core leadership, the party or the future strategy (in the India alliance). “Whether this alliance will continue or not is also not clear,” he said.
Abdullah also said that perhaps after the Delhi elections, India Bloc members will be called for a meeting and clarity will emerge.
Responding to another question on the growing support for AAP ahead of next month’s Delhi elections, Abdullah said, “I can’t say anything about it right now, because we have nothing to do with the Delhi elections. Common Man The party, Congress and other political parties will decide how to take on the BJP strongly.”
Abdullah said that AAP has got success twice before in Delhi. “This time we will have to wait and see what the people of Delhi decide,” he said.
Jammu and Kashmir Assembly is organizing an orientation program for newly elected MLAs in Jammu on Thursday.
Abdullah said, “Many of us have been members of this House before, but that was when Jammu and Kashmir was a state. Today the system is different. We need to understand how we will work and this What are the powers of the Assembly?
The Chief Minister also said that to familiarize everyone with the processes of this system, the Speaker has organized an orientation programme. He said, “The Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha also participated in this exercise. I believe that the experience of senior members will prove beneficial. In the upcoming sessions, MLAs will better represent the public and raise their issues effectively.”
