Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Saturday left for Saudi Arabia on a five-day visit to sign a bilateral agreement regarding Haj pilgrimage of 2025. Under this Yatra, India is asking for 10,000 additional quota for Haj 2025.
Rijiju will meet Saudi Arabian Minister Taufiq bin Fawzan Al Rabia on Monday, where a bilateral agreement is expected to be signed between the two leaders.
“I look forward to visiting Saudi Arabia to sign the bilateral agreement on Haj-2025 and strengthen the ties between the people of our two great countries,” Rijiju said in a post on ‘X’.
Rijiju will also meet Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistics Services Saleh Al Jasser and discuss with him Haj flight operations and bus and train services related to the journey.
Rijiju will also visit the Jeddah Haj Terminal used by Indian Haj pilgrims, where the government has set up an office space to facilitate travel. Some Indian Haj pilgrims use Jeddah Airport’s Terminal One for transit, which also has high-speed rail service.
Saudi Arabia has fixed India’s Haj quota for 2025 at 1,75,025 pilgrims and the government is seeking an additional 10,000 quota for this year’s Haj pilgrimage. Rijiju will also visit Madina, where he will visit the mosques of Quba and Kublatain.
