There are many religious cities in Madhya Pradesh. In Ujjain there is the Jyotirlinga of Mahakal. At the same time, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva is established in Omkareshwar in Khandwa. Apart from this, there is a temple of Maihar Devi in Satna district of Madhya Pradesh. Apart from Kandariya Mahadev, there are many temples in Khajuraho of Madhya Pradesh. At the same time, devotees visit Chausath Yogini temple in Jabalpur. Apart from this, there is also the temple of Pitambara Peeth, Amarkantak, Vijayasan Mata in Salkanpur and Lord Shiva temple in Bhojpur. All these are famous pilgrimage sites. The temple of Baglamukhi Mata in Shajapur district also attracts devotees. The temple of Dewaswali Mata also attracts huge crowd of devotees. The special thing is that cities like Ujjain, Omkareshwar, Khajuraho attract tourists not only from the country but also from abroad. It remains to be seen whether liquor prohibition is implemented in all these cities or some specific religious cities are brought under its purview.
Talking about the country, at present complete prohibition is in force in Gujarat and Bihar. Gujarat, being the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi, has imposed liquor prohibition. At the same time, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar had issued an order to implement liquor ban after forming the government with the Grand Alliance. This will be the first time that the government of any state is preparing to implement liquor ban in cities having religious places. Prohibition of liquor is also mentioned in the Directive Principles of State Policy of the Constitution of India. However, due to the huge revenue generated from it, governments have been hesitant in completely implementing prohibition.
