Introduction
Manmohan Mohapatra was born on November 10, 1951. He studied filmmaking at the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune. In 1975, Manmohan Mohapatra made his first short film ‘Anti-Memoirs’. His first film ‘Sita Rati’ in 1976 won him the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Odia. Manmohan Mohapatra also directed some Hindi films including Bits and Pieces. Veteran filmmaker Manmohan Mohapatra also directed the documentaries ‘Voice of Silence’ and ‘Konark: The Sun Temple’.

Manmohan Mohapatra had won eight consecutive National Awards for his films ‘Sita Rati’, ‘Majhi Pacha’, ‘Nisidha Swapna’, ‘Klanta Aparna’, ‘Nirba Jhaada’, ‘Bheena Samaya’. His work ‘Nirba Jhaada’ won the National Award. Manmohan Mohapatra recently received the Best Director award for the Odia film ‘Bhija Matira Swarag’.

Odisha’s famous film director Manmohan Mahapatra, who won the National Award, passed away on January 13, 2020. He was hospitalized for a long time, after which he breathed his last. Mahapatra said goodbye to the world at the age of 69.
