January 17, 2025
Electricity theft caught in mosques in the locality of Sambhal SP MP Zia Ur Rahman Barq, supply was being made to many houses.

Be careful. UP’s Sambhal has been in the news since the violence on 24 November 2024. Now, large scale electricity theft has also been exposed in Sambhal. According to the Electricity Department, during investigation in Sambhal, more than 1400 cases of electricity theft have been revealed. 16 mosques and 2 madrassas of Sambhal are also accused of electricity theft. Sambhal’s SP MP Ziaur Rahman Burke was also accused of electricity theft. The electricity department has imposed a fine of Rs 11 crore on those who steal electricity in Sambhal. Out of this, a fine of Rs 20 lakh has also been collected.

42 more cases of electricity theft have also been reported in Sambhal 2 days ago. According to the Electricity Department, after the investigation of electricity theft and penalty action, 22 mosques and one church of Sambhal have applied for new electricity connections. During investigation in Sambhal, it was found that abnormal increase in load was recorded from 10 pm to 4 am. In Sambhal, the electricity department has identified such places where the load is increasing at night. The Electricity Department and Sambhal Administration have decided that no relief will be given to anyone accused of electricity theft and a fine of one paisa will be charged. Let us tell you that there is a provision to recover the amount of electricity related fine like land revenue. That is, if the fine is not paid, the electricity department can collect the fine by confiscating the house of the person concerned and auctioning it.

Survey of Shahi Jama Masjid was being conducted in Sambhal on 24 November 2024 on the orders of the court. Violence broke out during this survey. The miscreants pelted stones at the police. Many vehicles were set on fire. After this disturbance and violence, the administration took strict action and then the electricity department also came into action. As a result, people stealing electricity started being caught. In those areas where earlier the electricity department employees were afraid to go for investigation, a large number of police were deployed and raids were conducted.
