Donald J. Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of America on Monday. With this, he made a remarkable return to the post of President for the second time after four years.
In his address after taking the oath of office, Trump said, “America’s golden age begins now.” He said, “From today onwards our country will prosper again and will be respected all over the world.” Every country will be jealous of us and someone will take advantage of us, we will not let this happen.
Trump (78) said that he will keep America “first”. He said, “The scales of justice will be rebalanced. The cruel, violent and unfair weaponization of the Justice Department and the government will end.”
Republican Party leader Trump (78) has returned to the White House as a strong man and with the vision of a powerful president. He has also promised to aggressively change US policies in several areas, including immigration, tariffs and energy.
Trump said in his oath, “I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully discharge the office of President of the United States and will preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States to the best of my ability.”
Before Trump, J. D. Vance took the oath of office as Vice President. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar attended the swearing-in ceremony as the special envoy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Trump had registered a landslide victory over his rival and Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris in the November 5 presidential election. During the election campaign, Trump was attacked twice with the intention of killing him. Trump also had to face impeachment twice while he was president.
Four years ago, Trump unsuccessfully attempted to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election to remain in office.
His victory in the latest election is being considered as the most remarkable victory in American political history.
Due to extreme cold in the US capital, the swearing-in ceremony was held in the Capitol Rotunda (central chamber of the Parliament House). Earlier it was planned to organize the swearing-in ceremony in an open space.
The event was attended by Trump’s wife Melania, his daughter Ivanka and Ivanka’s husband Jared Kushner and billionaires Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Tim Cook.
Trump is expected to sign several executive orders on his first day as president, including starting the process of ending citizenship by birth.
Meanwhile, Trump ended CBP One, a border app that had given legal entry to about 1 million migrants with ‘online appointments’ during Biden’s tenure as US president.
