US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he liked the arguments from both sides supporting and opposing the ‘H-1B’ visa for foreign immigrant workers. He said he likes the “highly skilled people” coming to the country and have used the program.
Trump met Oracle’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Larry Ellison, SoftBank’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Masayoshi Son and ‘Open AI’ CEO Sam Altman at the White House (the official office and residence of the US President). Addressed a joint press conference.
During this, he said, “I like the arguments from both sides (those supporting and opposing the ‘H1B’ visa), but I also want highly skilled and capable people to come to our country, even if They have to train and help people who do not have adequate qualifications for such tasks. But I don’t want to stop and I’m not just talking about engineers, I’m talking about people at all levels.
The President was asked a question about the ongoing debate on ‘H-1B’ visas among his supporters.
While his close confidants like Tesla owner Elon Musk support the H-1B visa, many of his supporters oppose it, arguing that it takes away jobs from Americans. Musk argues that this visa program brings qualified technical professionals to America.
