Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying to disrupt his party’s election campaign and intimidate voters ahead of the February 5 assembly elections. Is using Delhi Police for this.
Kejriwal said in the press conference, “All Delhi Police personnel are with BJP. There is no one to protect the people. A police station in-charge (SHO) told me that they receive direct instructions from the Home Ministry to disrupt our rallies.
This press conference was also addressed by Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and senior party leader Saurabh Bhardwaj.
Kejriwal said that the people of Delhi will have to unite and give a befitting reply to the BJP. Kejriwal said, “I fear that this time voters may be stopped from voting.”
Kejriwal claimed that the BJP had suffered a “historic defeat” in Delhi and hence its workers were committing hooliganism with the support of the police. “Police are helping BJP’s campaign and supporting their (BJP) workers who are hampering AAP’s election efforts,” he said.
Atishi and Bhardwaj also expressed similar concerns. The Chief Minister accused BJP workers of threatening AAP workers in Kalkaji, from where she is contesting elections again.
He said, “Ramesh Bidhuri (Atishi’s BJP rival from Kalkaji seat) is threatening our workers to join BJP. We will lodge a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI).
He alleged that BJP workers were trying to disrupt AAP’s door-to-door campaign in the constituency.
Delhi Assembly elections are going to be held on February 5, the results of which will be declared on February 8. In the year 2020, AAP had registered a landslide victory by securing 62 out of 70 seats, after which the party aims to come to power for the third consecutive time.
