New Delhi, 23 January (IANS). The government has been given notice by the government to show different prices for equal service on iPhone and Android mobile phones, which operate online taxi service. This information was given by Union Consumer Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi on Thursday.
This notice has been given to Ola and Uber by the Department of Consumer Affairs.
Union Minister Joshi said in a post on social media platform ‘X’ that the department has issued notices to these cab aggregators through the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA).
The Union Minister further said that after observations of different prices based on various models of mobile phones such as iPhone and Android, the Department of Consumer Affairs issued notice to the major cab aggregators Ola and Uber through CCPA and sought answers from them.
Uber and Ola have been directed to respond to the notice issued by the department.
In another post, the Union Minister said that after receiving complaints on the National Consumer Helpline (NCH) about the result related problems in iPhone after the iOS 18+ software update, “The department through CCPA after investigating these complaints A notice has been issued to Apple and sought an answer on the case. ”
The Union Minister has also ordered an inquiry into other industries like online ticketing app and food delivery, so that it could be ascertained whether any comparable problem was reported.
Last month, there was a lot of discussion on social media that cab aggregators are charging different prices from their users and are charging more prices for services from users using iPhones.
