A Mumbai court last week extended police custody of the Bangladeshi person arrested for a knife attack during a robbery attempt in the house of Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan last week.
The police produced the accused Shariful Islam Shahzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir (30) before the magistrate court in Bandra after the end of his previous remand period.
He sought his custody for seven days from the court and argued that further investigations of some important aspects of the case were needed. The court accepted the police plea and extended its custody till 29 January.
Police had earlier reported that the person who attacked Khan, who has been arrested from the nearby Thane city, is a Bangladeshi, who had changed his name to Vijay Das after illegally entered India.
The 54 -year -old actor was attacked several times during a robbery attempt by an intruder equipped with a knife in an apartment on the 12th floor of his apartment in Bandra on Thursday (January 16). It was a shocking attack, which has raised interesting questions about security and celebrity life.
Khan was admitted to Lilavati Hospital, where he was under two surgeries after a knife wounds near his neck and spine. He was discharged from a private hospital on 21 January.
