Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said he was “deeply saddened” by the explosion at an ordnance factory in Maharashtra’s Bhandara, in which eight people are feared dead.
Singh said rescue teams are deployed at the blast site and all efforts are being made to provide assistance to the affected people.
He posted on social media platform ‘X’, “Very sad to know about the explosion in the ordnance factory in Bhandara, Maharashtra. My condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.
“A rescue team is present at the spot,” he said. Every possible effort is being made to provide assistance to the affected people.
There is information from Maharashtra that eight people have died in the blast.
The Defense Ministry has not yet officially given details of the blast.
According to police and district officials, the blast took place around 10.30 am in the ‘LTP section’ of the ordnance factory in Jawahar Nagar area.
