New Delhi, 24 January (IANS). It can be a difficult task to fulfill the resolve to adopt healthy habits in the new year 2025. According to a study, it takes about two months to form new habits and may take about a year to adopt them completely.

This study conducted by researchers at the University of South Australia states that unlike the general perception, healthy habits are not made in 21 days.

Dr. Ben Singh, who is the head of this research, says, “It is necessary to adopt good habits to stay healthy for a long time, but it is not easy to make them and leave old bad habits.”

Dr. Singh said, “Most of us set goals such as staying active in the beginning of the new year, eating less sugar or choosing healthy food. But the notion that habits are made in 21 days, completely baseless Is.”

By adopting healthy habits, many serious diseases like type-2 diabetes, heart diseases, lung problems and stroke can be prevented.

Research found that it takes 59 to 66 days on an average to create new habits, but it may take up to 335 days to fully establish them.

Dr. Singh says, “If you are adopting healthy habits, do not lose courage by seeing the results in three weeks. It takes time to become habits.”

The team conducted a study on more than 2600 people and found that some factors play an important role in adopting new habits, such as how many times that activity is being practiced. It is being done at what time of the day. How much do you like this activity.

Research suggested that if the new habit is included in the morning routine, it can be easy to maintain it for a long time.

Although further research is needed on this subject, this study can help improve public health programs and personal health plans.
